Wonderful to see you getting into the race. I had the honor of walking with your father many times over the years before i was elected County Commissioner. (Photos are proudly on my website). Hope to get a chance to walk with you when you get up this way to Panama City Beach. Please keep me posted and once again, Thanks!. John Newberry

Good to see you in the race. I wish you luck. Reading your website and knowing the great man that your father was for this state, I know tht you are the best candidate for the job. I don’t have the finances but, whatever I can do to support you in Miami I would like to. You are our best choice,

I would like to support you by placing yard signs in my and your friends yards. Everyone could do this!!! We have to get Bud Chiles reputation out there, so the voters will know!

Mr. McCollum just showed his real colors in his misguided views about education. Please do not follow the hysterical gimmickers who insist on damaging public education with “merit” pay, eliminating tenure, and other hare-brained ideas.
I am a retired teacher. The greatest problems confronting public education originate in the Legislature, school district management, and school administrators.
“Merit” pay cannot work because schools in the “lowest” economic areas will not show up well on tests. Besides, discriminating against the teachers in these schools is against the law. Discrimination is illegal.
Mr. Chiles wants to give incompetent and vindictive administrators an easy way to fire teachers. Tenure, with its drawbacks, does protect teachers from many poor
administrators.
Please stand up for children and educators. You are our only help in this election.

I’m so glad you’ve decided to run for governor. Before you announced your candidacy, I was thinking that we haven’t had a governor that cared about people more than getting re-elected since your father was in office. I was ecstactic to hear that you have decided to run. However, I have been concerned because I haven’t heard your named mentioned since I heard your original announcement. But, I read your article in the Orlando Sentinel today and I am, once again, ecstatic.
Here’s an idea–why don’t we invite anyone that legislates on education to take the FCAT? —–Especially the legislators on the Education Committee. In addition, (if they don’t have a BS in education) all members of the Education Committee should be required to spend 3 weeks in a teachers’ classroom, like a mini internship. It makes no sense to have people with no experience in the field making all the decisions.
You’ve got my vote! How can I get a sign to post in my yard?

Thank you Ailene. I appreciate your support. We MUST re-evaluate the role of FCAT in our educational system.
On a separate note, yard signs are on order. I hope others will click on “Join Bud” and complete the online form as you have done. We will be sending out an email shortly to our supporters on how to get campaign materials.

Bud,
We are totally behind you! We sent in our contribution and are anxious to get campaign materials: bumper stickers and yard signs for Gainesville. When are you coming here? We want to get the word out.
As an educator, I am very concerned about the future of education and the Arts in Florida’s schools. It’s pretty abysmal when you look around.
Our love to all. Thanks for trying to help Florida!
Hope to walk with you soon.
Go Gators!

It is September 1st and the air is aflutter with news that you are dropping out of the governors race. My question, since I would rather be struck down then have one cent go to help either Sink or Scott, is if you will be refunding campaign contributions. Mine isn’t a lot but any money for either of the two socialists is too much. Thanks for your reply, I hope the rumors are just that and you stay in to give us a decent choice to vote for.
